KETTERING — Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Kettering Health Network have announced that Kettering will be a preferred provider for Anthem’s new Ohio HMO Exchange plans supported by the Pathway X HMO/Pathway HMO provider networks in the Dayton region. The products are available to individuals both on and off exchange, with the open enrollment period beginning November 1, 2015.

Under the agreement, Kettering will serve as a preferred provider for residents of the Dayton region who purchase Anthem’s Pathway HMO insurance plans. The agreement includes all Kettering facilities: Fort Hamilton Hospital, Grandview Medical Center, Greene Memorial Hospital, Kettering Behavioral Hospital, Kettering Medical Center, Soin Medical Center, Southview Medical Center and Sycamore Medical Center. Anthem is offering the local network products in 25 counties in the greater Cleveland, Akron, Columbus and Dayton areas. In Dayton those counties include Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby and Warren.

In addition to providing affordable, quality health care coverage, the new Pathway HMO plans allow a primary care physician (PCP) to manage members’ health care needs, and help make sure members get the care they need from specialists and hospitals. Many of the PCPs in Anthem’s HMO network also participate in the Enhanced Personal Health Care program, which helps ensure these physicians provide the greatest access to their services, and use proven processes to help patients navigate the health care delivery system.

“Kettering Health Network is pleased to partner with Anthem on products that improve quality, patient outcomes and increase value to our patients,” says Todd Anderson, Senior Vice President of Market Strategies for Kettering Health Network. “This partnership demonstrates our collective commitment with Anthem to provide the highest quality providers and the best network of access to the communities that we serve.”

Kettering has long been a collaborative partner with Anthem, being one of the first organizations to embrace value-based care as well as work with the insurer to help provide access to affordable, quality care through all of our products, both on and off Exchange.

“Kettering Health Network has a proven track record of delivering high quality, patient centric care to Dayton-area patients and their families,” said Scott Gerhart, Regional Vice President of Provider Engagement & Strategy for Anthem. “We are pleased to align with them to provide consumers who purchase health insurance through Anthem even more access to greater value and affordable health benefits solutions.”

The new Anthem Pathway HMO and Pathway X HMO options will be available beginning Jan. 1, 2016, along with a variety of other product options both on and off the Ohio Health Insurance Marketplace for both individuals and small employers. Members choosing the new HMO products will have in-network benefits only by accessing preferred providers like Kettering, those who collaborate with us to help provide affordable, quality care.
