COLUMBUS — Greene County schools had four podium finishes during the first day of competition on Friday at the Ohio state track and field championships held at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

FAIRBORN — One strike away from advancing, Greeneview head coach John-Marc Brooks made a difficult but necessary decision to not only pull out a win, but also try and set up his rotation for Friday.

FAIRBORN — The Wright State baseball program will open the Terre Haute NCAA Regional against No. 14 Indiana State on Friday at 1 p.m. The tournament matchup at Bob Warn Field will air on ESPN+, while live stats will also be available.

XENIA — The second day of regional track and field meets saw Greene County schools produce eight additional champions and secure a total of 29 qualifying individuals and teams for the state championships.

FAIRBORN — Wright State baseball, the Horizon League champions, will head to Terre Haute, Ind., to start NCAA baseball regional tournament play.

XENIA — The Carroll and Cedarville boys 4 x 800 relay teams won regional titles during the first day of competition.

BATAVIA — Some of the players on Greeneview’s baseball team have heard stories and memories about the last district champion squad from the school.

XENIA — Xenia native Tyler Goecke and former Wright State teammate Bryce Haney were defeated in the semifinals of the USGA’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship on Wednesday.
