Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10

“So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, ‘It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables… We… will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.’” (Acts 6:2-4)

Matthew 8:24 “And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep.”

As we continue to work our way through Jesus’ Bible, let’s see what can be learned from Abraham’s famous servant Eliezer. Please grab your Bible and read Genesis 24:10-14. However, the entire narrative of Eliezer’s assignment to find a wife for Isaac is a very good teaching about how God provides for us – but I want to focus on those first four verses.

“But a Pharisee named Gamaliel … addressed the Sanhedrin … ‘Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.’” (Acts 5:34-39)

Matthew 8:13 “Then Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.’ And his servant was healed at that moment.”

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives … Isaiah 61:1

“Then someone came and said, ‘Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.’ At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people would stone them.” (Acts 5:25-26)

Matthew 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

There are a few bible verses that give imperative commands regarding the Holy Spirit—one from Jesus and four from Paul. Our Risen Lord said, “Receive the Holy Spirit” — John 20:19. Paul said, “Walk by the Spirit” — Galatians 5:11, “Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit” — Ephesians 4:30, “Don’t quench the Spirit” — 1 Thessalonians 5:19, and “Be filled with the Spirit” — Ephesians 5:18. Ephesians continues, “… speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” — Ephesians 5:18–22, KJV.
