YELLOW SPRINGS — Kelli Baxter has joined Friends Care Community in Yellow Springs as a new administrator-in-training intern.
Baxter, a Xenia native, received a bachelor’s degree in public health and healthcare administration from Kent State University in 2023. She then decided to continue her education in this field and began to pursue a master’s degree in public health/policy health management from KSU. As part of Baxter’s master’s program, she must to complete a six month (1,000 working hours) internship in health administration as an AIT.
As part of this internship, Baxter will be exposed to and learn all aspects involved in the health care of the residents at Friend Care Community (nursing, therapies, food services, activities, administration, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.). Baxter will be at FCC until May 2025.
Baxter began her education at the Xenia Nazarene Christian School. She then went to Yellow Springs McKinney Middle School/High School (YSHS), where she ran track and cheered throughout her middle school and high school career. Later she transferred to the Greene County Career Center in 2017 where she obtained her license to be a state tested nursing assistant (STNA).
After graduating from YSHS, she went to Sinclair Community College in Dayton before she transferred to Kent State University in 2021 to study nursing and public health. As she approached her senior year in 2022, Baxter said she discovered a deep passion for public health and healthcare administration, leading to her current internship
Baxter is currently an STNA and works as an activity assistant an assisted living facility in Xenia.
