Orrender member of council

ASHLAND — Ashlynn Orrender is a member of Ashland University’s Council for Exceptional Children. Orrender is a 2017 graduate of Carroll High School.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is an international professional organization dedicated to improving the educational success of individuals with disabilities and/or gifts and talents. Ashland University’s chapter sponsors multiple events to raise awareness and volunteer for these children in the community.

Nielsen named to principal’s list

FRONT ROYAL, Va. — Audrey Nielsen of Beavercreek, a sixth grader at Randolph-Macon Academy, earned a place on the principal’s list for the first quarter of the 2017-18 school year. Only students who achieve a GPA of 3.5-3.99 at Randolph-Macon Academy Middle School (grades 6-8) are named to the Principal’s List. Audrey is the daughter of Amy Nielsen and Kevin Nielsen of Beavercreek.

Speranza finishing studies

OXFORD — Hannah Speranza of Beavercreek has been applying the tools of science, education and conservation to become a leader in the conservation community. In mid-December 2017, Speranza is expected to conclude her master’s course of study with a master of arts (MA) in biology from Miami University through Project Dragonfly.

Since joining the Global Field Program master’s in 2015, Speranza has traveled to Belize, Mongolia and Namibia and conducted projects that have made a difference in the Beavercreek area.
