FAIRBORN — Social media can only take private investigating endeavors so far, which is where Metropolis Special Patrol and Investigations, LLC. is aiming to help.
The office, located at 220 East Main St., will officially open in the spring months. However, CEO and Chief David Boehm of Metropolis Special Patrol and Investigations, is already open for business. He said he is licensed and insured with 22 years of experience under his belt within the private investigating, public safety and law enforcement industries.
“Any person or business can hire our services,” Boehm said. “We do any type of investigating you can think of — skip tracing, missing persons, locating someone, [infidelity and] finding hidden assets. On the private security side, we do armed and unarmed details. A lot of the officers I hire are ex or current police officers.”
Metropolis Special Patrol and Investigations’ licensure allows it to provide private security and investigating work, including a number divisions: private patrol, investigative, fugitive recovery, process serving, executive protection, armed and unarmed, training for CCW as well as spy and surveillance camera sales. Through the office, community members can also get fingerprinted and receive background checks for employers.
Services can be found via thumbtack.com, which allows potential clients to determine which types of services they need, then providers to offer bids for such.
After clients are established, they would provide Boehm with preliminary information on the individual or situation in need of being watched, Boehm would run that information through a background check and establish hard-copies of such. Boehm would then work toward a “proof of life” in which he would go out and aim to prove what is on the documents, which could include photos, videos and/or statements. The information would then be compiled and presented back to the client, which could then be used in court, according to Boehm.
He said he could also interview and interrogate if the case calls for such.
“I have access to online database searches that are not accessible by the public,” he said. “Only accessible to law enforcement, licensed private investigators and lawyers. I have access to 22.5 billion records … We have to abide by any state, local [and] federal laws. We are governed by 4500 of the 4700 section of the Ohio Revised Code.”
Boehm said he has a 93 percent success rate for locating missing persons. His background includes a bachelor of arts in biblical studies from Pensacola Christian College and training from the Hamilton County Sheriff Patrol Academy in 1997. He is a former auxiliary police cadet from the Terrace Park Police, and served a number of other small departments along the way.
In his last role as a commissioned officer, he worked as an assistant police chief for the Queen City Private Police Association. He said he has also provided Ohio peace officer and private investigator training. He is in the process of earning his degree at Sinclair Community College in criminal justice.
“I am soft-hearted,” Boehm said. “I wanted to help the person who can’t help themselves against criminal activity, especially the ones who have been exploited, older people, people who are naive or don’t know much, anyone who is getting taken advantage of.”
