Rams reschedule two OHC games

A pair of washed out Greeneview baseball games have been rescheduled.

The April 26th game with Ohio Heritage Conference foe Springfield Catholic Central, that was stopped by rain with the Rams trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning, will resume at 5 p.m. May 3 at Greeneview High.

The April 22 contest with South Charleston Southeastern, which was stopped by rain with Greeneview ahead 8-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning, will resume at 5 p.m. Friday May 6, also at Greeneview.

The Rams are scheduled to host Greenon for a nonleague varsity game at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30. The junior varsity game will follow at 1 p.m.

Girls Lacrosse

Beavers sink McNick

BEAVERCREEK — Sabra Woodruff scored two goals while Sydney Smith, Kelsea Maxwell, Megan Miller, Caitlyn Newport, Maddie Frye and Cassie Mullins scored one each in Beavercreek’s 8-4 win Thursday over Cincinnati McNicholas.

Beavercreek is next scheduled to host Bellbrook at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

FOOTBALL

Tornadoes exhibition game Saturday

The Xenia Tornadoes, a first-year adult football team, will play an exhibition game against the Cincinnati Dukes on Saturday, April 30 at Withrow High School, 2488 Madison Rd., in Cincinnati.

The Tornadoes-Dukes game is part of a North vs. South showdown doubleheader. Xenia’s game kicks off at 3 p.m. A second game is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m.

Admission is $7 for adults. Kids 12 & under get in free.

SOCCER

Dynamo to host exhibition, Sunday

DAYTON — The exhibition game between the University of Akron and the Dayton Dynamo soccer teams had to be cancelled, due to a string of injuries sustained by the Zips team. As a result, the Dynamo will host a free Blue vs. White exhibition game at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at Wright State University’s soccer field.

Team merchandise will be available and Dynamo players will be available for pictures and autographs. All tickets sold for the Akron match will be fully refunded or transferred for use at another match of the fan’s choice.

RUNNING

Ruffner Memorial 5K set for May 13

XENIA — The second annual Joseph T. Ruffner Memorial 5K Run will take place starting at 6 p.m., Friday May 13 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1120 S. Detroit St.

A free Kids Fun Run will get under way at 5:45 p.m. for kids ages 8 and under, with the adult race starting with a balloon launch at 6 p.m. The course is stroller and leashed pet friendly, with a water station at the halfway point and at the finish line.

Runners can register online (www.speedy-feet.com/race-entry.php?id=1619) or on Facebook (www.facebook.com/JRR5K/). Cost is $20 for adults; $10 for runners age 14 and under. Same-day registration is $25 for adults; $15 for youth until 5 p.m.

CAMPS

Beavercreek hosting fundamentals girls basketball camp

BEAVERCREEK — The 16th Amanda (Reese) Crockett and Ed Zink Beavercreek Fundamental Girls Basketball Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6-9 at Beavercreek High School.

Cost is $100 per camper with a $10 discount for additional campers from the same family. Anyone who registers by May 20 can register for $90.

Camp will be administered and taught by Beavercreek’s all-time scoring leader Amanda (Reese) Crockett, and current Beavers coach and three-time coach of the year Ed Zink, along with current and former basketball players.

The camp is designed to provide campers with personal attention to improve their basketball fundamentals. Campers will also develop their skills and teamwork each day during league play.

Campers will receive a camp t-shirt, a drink each day, and trophies/awards for contest winners.

Also, Thursday June 9 is Mother-Daughter Camp Day, and family members are invited to participate.

Jamestown Chamber Golf Outing, May 13

JAMESTOWN — The annual Jamestown Chamber of Commerce golf outing is scheduled for Friday, May 13 at Sebastian Hills Golf Course, 1100 Knoll Haven Rd. in Xenia.

The outing will start at 11 a.m., with registration opening at 10 a.m. Come early to take advantage of the free driving range and putting green privileges, and grab a hot dog or two courtesy of Countryside Propane. When the golf is over, Kelley’s Café will be providing all participants and volunteers a wonderful meal at the golf course. Registration information for sponsorships and playing, including payment options, are available on the Chamber’s website (www.jtchamber.com) or by emailing [email protected]. The deadline for registration is Monday, May 9.

The annual golf outing is the main fundraising activity for the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce which allows the Chamber to provide various activities, programs and scholarships to the Jamestown and surrounding communities.

Rotary Club outing, May 20

BEAVERCREEK — The Rotary Club of Beavercreek will host the 34th Annual Beavercreek Rotary Club Memorial Golf Outing Friday, May 20 at the City of Beavercreek Golf Club.

The four-team scramble format will provide prizes for skills competitions throughout the day. Check in begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start slated for 12:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will follow the scramble at 5 p.m. on the patio overlooking the course.

Cost for the scramble is $100 per person; $400 per foursome. The fee includes greens fee, cart, lunch, and refreshments. Registration is currently open. In addition, there are several opportunities for organizations to sponsor the event, including.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Beavercreek Schools’ Multi-handicapped classrooms, Wright State University scholarships, STEM fellowships and Owen’s Place.
