Beavercreek defeats Fairborn, 11-1

FAIRBORN — Visiting Beavercreek bashed 14 hits to run-rule Fairborn, 11-1, on Wednesday.

Beavercreek came out hitting and Fairborn’s bats were asleep except for one inning. The Skyhawks collected five hits in the abbreviated five-inning contest. Coming up with Fairborn’s only hits were Kirsten George, Jordan Wilson, Emily Reichert and Hannah Borchert.

No individual statistics were available for Beavercreek (2-4), which is scheduled to host Lebanon today at Rotary Park. Fairborn (0-3) plays at Cedarville at 5 p.m. today in a nonleague game.

Rams run-rule Cedarville

JAMESTOWN — The Greeneview Rams varsity scored five runs in the second on an RBI single by Bryce Ratliff, a two-run single by Makenna Edwards, and a two-run single by Brooke Eakle in Tuesday’s eventual 14-4 win in five innings.

Edwards racked up four RBIs on four hits for Greeneview.

The Rams took the lead for good in the first, scoring three runs on a solo home run by Edwards, a groundout by Brianna Seigfried, and an RBI triple by Eakle.

After pushing across three runs in the top of the third, Cedarville faced just a 8-4 deficit. A two-run double by Jeffers and a groundout by Danik set off Cedarville rally. Finally, Seigfried induced an inning-ending groundout from K Cyphers to end the game.

BASEBALL

Skyhawks blanked by Miamisburg

MIAMISBURG — The host Vikings opened with a run in the first inning, then scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth, on 12 hits and just one error in Tuesday’s 7-0 win over Fairborn.

Fairborn was limited to four hits in the game, but coughed up five errors in the Greater Western Ohio Conference, South Division loss.

HALL OF FAME

Xenia taking Hall of Fame nominations

XENIA — Nominations for Class of 2016 inductees into the Xenia Athletic Hall of Fame are now being accepted.

A nomination form can be obtained by going to the Xenia Community Schools official website, then to the Athletics link, and then to the Athletic Hall of Fame link. An individual, a team, a coach, and/or a community contributor can be nominated. These nominations can be for those athletes, teams, coaches, and community contributors who were associated with Xenia Central, Xenia High School, Xenia East, and/or Spring Valley. Nominations will be considered from all eras. The deadline to submit nomination forms is April 6.

Spring Street Car Nationals at Kil-Kare

XENIA — Kil-Kare Dragway will kick off its 2016 racing season with the Spring Street Car Nationals, on April 9. Gates will open at 10 a.m. Time runs will take place until noon, and first-round eliminations begin at 12:30 p.m. Cars are required to have a Elapsed Time of 14 seconds and up. Drivers must have valid tags, license, D.O.T Tires, No Track Prep, No Burnout Box. Entry is $50, with a $25 buy-back option. Winner will receive $1,000! Spectators get in for $5, carloads $10, kids 15 & under get in free with a paid adult.

Kil-Kare is located on 1166 Dayton-Xenia Road, in Xenia.

Dragons single-game tickets on sale

DAYTON — Dayton Dragons 2016 single-game tickets will are now on sale at the Dragons Box Office located next to the main entry gates at Fifth Third Field.

Opening Day for the Dragons is set for 4 p.m., Saturday, April 9 against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Dragons are scheduled to play 70 home games during the regular season. They will officially begin their 17th season of Midwest League baseball April 7 at Bowling Green.

The box office will be open throughout the season from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. On weekend game dates, the box office will open at noon and close in the seventh inning. The box office will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays when the team is on the road.

Single-game tickets can be purchased in person, at the Dragons box office, any Miami Valley Kroger store, or any Ticketmaster outlet, online, at daytondragons.com, or by calling the Dragons Box office at (937) 228-2287; or Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at (937) 228-2323.

There is never a convenience charge for tickets purchased at the Dragons box office. There is also no convenience charge for tickets purchased from the Dragons by phone at (937) 228-2287 (a shipping charge is added for tickets that are mailed).
