Shroyer named to D-III All-Ohio squad

COLUMBUS — Bellbrook senior linebacker Caleb Shroyer was named to the Associated Press All-Ohio Team on Tuesday. Shroyer, a 5-foot-10, 183-pound two-way standout as a Golden Eagles fullback and linebacker, finished the 2015 season with 1oo tackles (42 solo), three quarterback sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Shroyer was a first-team all-Southwest District selection and also was named to the Southwestern Buckeye League, Southwestern Division’s first team.

Test, Green named to D-V All-Ohio team

COLUMBUS — A pair of Greeneview Rams were named to their respective Associated Press Division V All-Ohio teams on Wednesday.

Greeneview running back Logan Test was named to the D-V All-Ohio second team. He gained 1,486 yards rushing and scored 26 touchdowns.

Senior offensive and defensive lineman Caleb Green was selected to the D-V third team as an offensive lineman. At 6-feet in height and 235 pounds, Green’s blocking opened plenty of holes for Test and the rest of the Rams this season.

Both players were also all-Southwest district selection first teamers as well.

Sheridan earns D-VII special mention

COLUMBUS — Cedarville High School linebacker Nathan Sheridan was named to the Associated Press Division VII All-Ohio Special Mention team on Wednesday. Sheridan, a three-years starter, recorded 150 tackles, blocked two kicks, forced four fumbles and recovered a fumble this season for the Indians.

Xenia Hall induction celebrations set

XENIA — The Xenia Athletic Hall of Fame for the class of 2015 induction ceremony will consist of two parts: the introduction of the Class of 2015 at the XHS basketball game on Friday Night, Dec. 4, and the induction ceremony and dinner AT 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Faith Community Methodist Church.

Outstanding athletes and others being honored are Lawrence Dudgeon from the Class of 1987, Jeff Huffmon-1984, Bret Jones-1999, Dave Reasons-1981, Billy Shields-1943, Monica West-1983, Coach Steve Harris-1982-2006, Community Volunteer Mack Bottorff-1961, and the 1992 State Soccer Final Four Team coached by Pat Marrinan and Mark Rinehart.

Cedarville rolls past Ohio Christian

CEDARVILLE — Four Yellow Jackets scored in double figures and another came close in Tuesday night’s 85-48 win over Ohio Christian.

Abby Wolford led all scorers with 13 points, Kayla Linkous scored 12, Emily Williams and Christina McQueen scored 11 each and Taylor Vander Plas finished with nine.

Cedarville (3-3) held a 33-27 lead at the break, then outscored Ohio Christian 22-6 to pull away. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Trailblazers (4-4) 52-21 in the second half.

Erinn Bailey led Ohio Christian with 11 points and Blazer teammate Shawntell Parsons finished with nine.

Cedarville will host Wilberforce at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Callan Athletic Center.

Wilberforce coach to host Bermuda clinic

WILBERFORCE — Wilberforce University women’s basketball coach Iesha Gray will be hosting a basketball skills clinic in Bermuda.

According to Bermuda’s Royal Gazette newspaper, 40 of the Island’s female basketball and netball players will be given the opportunity to showcase their skills from December 18-20.

Gray has been invited to Bermuda by the Wolfpack Hoops organization, and will be on the look out for potential scholarship athletes while there, the newspaper said.

Wright State rolls over Albion

FAIRBORN — The Wright State men’s basketball team shot 52 percent from the field and nearly led throughout in posting a 68-50 victory over Albion, Tuesday at the Wright State Nutter Center.

Michael Karena paced WSU with 17 points off the bench while Biggie Minnis also came off the bench and chipped in 10. Mark Alstork added nine points.

Wright State (3-4) hosts Georgia State, at 7:30 p.m., Friday night in the second game of a doubleheader. The WSU women will take on Butler at 5 p.m.

Cedarville rallies past Ohio Christian

CEDARVILLE — After trailing 36-30 at halftime, host Cedarville outscored Ohio Christian 43-26 in the second half to claim Tuesday night’s 73-62 win at Cedarville University’s Callan Athletic Center.

J.C. Faubion led all scorers with 24 points. He also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds for Cedarville (1-5). Justice Montgomery finished with 11 points for the Yellow Jackets and teammate Patrick Bain added 10.

Marquis Jackson led the Trailblazers (7-2) with 16 points, and Evin Bartlett finished with 13.

Cedarville returns to action Thursday against Miami University-Middletown. That game is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at the Callan Athletic Center.
