Demmings reaches 2,000 points
MIAMI, Fla. — Kim Demmings had 27 points and became the second Wright State women’s basketball player to ever score 2,000 points in a career, but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders dropped a 80-67 decision at Miami (Fla.) Friday afternoon.
Demmings led all scorers with 27 points and joined Jodi Martin (2,055 points from 1979-83) as the only two Wright State women’s basketball players to reach the 2,000-point plateau. Demmings now has 2,004 points.
Two other Raiders reached double figures as Denham had 17, 13 in the first half, while Richelle van der Keijl posted a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Taylor added eight points while fellow freshman guard Emily Vogelpohl dished out five assists.
Wright State (0-1) heads to Kent State on Tuesday, Nov. 17, for another 11 a.m. contest. The home opener is on Thursday, as the Raiders welcome in Lipscomb for a 7 p.m. game.
Six Marauders earn SIAC recognition
MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) released its 2015 football conference honors with six members of the Central State University football team receiving recognition on Friday.
Central State senior offensive lineman Keenan Woods (Dayton Early College Academy), senior defensive lineman Justin Woods-West (Detroit Kettering Senior), junior linebacker Deonate Gary (Lakeland, Fla.), and junior defensive back Clim Robbins (West Orlando, Fla.) were each named to the all-SIAC first team.
CSU senior tight end Zach Thomas (Columbus Walnut Ridge) and junior defensive back Nehemiah Coward (Clermont, Fla.) were both named to the SIAC’s second team.
Jewel Ratliff (Tuskegee) was named the Overall Player of the Year (MVP) and Defensive Player of the Year.
Jarvis Small (Albany State) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year.
Amyr Smith (Morehouse) and Darrius Holmes (Tuskegee) were tabbed Co-Freshmen of the Year.
Reginald Ruffin (Miles) was voted as the Coach of the Year after leading the Golden Bears (6-4 overall) to a 5-0 record in the conference to claim the west division title. Miles advanced to the championship game with a 26-23 road win over Tuskegee on Nov. 7 and will play Albany State on Saturday, Nov. 14 for the SIAC title game.
Yellow Jackets advance in men’s soccer tourney
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No. 4 seed Cedarville won its first-ever NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Tournament contest with a convincing 3-0 result over No. 5 Quincy (Ill.) in Thursday’s Midwest Regional at Rockhurst University.
Jon Brown (Port Clinton) scored twice after Zachary Harris (Newport News, Va. Woodside) got the scoring under way in the 15th minute.
Cedarville women fall in NCAA tourney opener
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — No. 3 seed Truman State (Mo.) netted the game’s only goal early in the second half to eliminate No. 6 Cedarville, 1-0, Thursday in the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship.
The Lady Jackets, who garnered the first-ever automatic qualifying bid as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Champions, end their season, 13-5-2.
Truman State, 15-2-5, moves on to play host and no. 2 seed Bellarmine (Ky.), 16-2-2, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday in the second round.

State Football tickets now on sale
COLUMBUS – Two types of all-session tickets are now on sale for the Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championship games, which return to Ohio Stadium in Columbus December 3, 4 and 5.
All-session tickets for the seven championship games in the club level, which are the chair-back seats on the west side of the stadium, are $105 each and also permit indoor access in the Huntington Club before, during and after each game. All-session reserved tickets on the east side of the stadium, which don’t include indoor access, are $84 each.

Single game tickets will go on sale November 29 and cost $10 at the state finalist schools, or at the gate before each game for $15 (club level) and $12 (reserved).
Details for parking and other activities related to the championship games will be announced throughout the fall. The OHSAA football state championship games are hosted by the Greater Columbus Sports Commission and The Ohio State University Department of Athletics.
The state semifinal games are Friday, Nov. 28, for Division II, III, V and VII, and Saturday, Nov. 29, for Division I, IV and VI. The schedule for the Division II, III, V and VII state championship games will be announced on the OHSAA’s twitter page at approximately 11 p.m. on Nov. 28. One of those four divisions will play its state final on Thursday, Dec. 3, with the other three playing on Friday, Dec. 4. The schedule for the Division I, IV and VI state championship games will be announced at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, with all three of those games set for Saturday, Dec. 5.

With each two-day Redsfest admission purchased, fans will receive two free tickets to the Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game on Sunday, April 10. Fans purchasing a one-day Redsfest admission will receive one free ticket to the April 10 game.
The first 11,000 fans through the Redsfest doors each day will receive a free Reds drawstring bag and a Mr. Redlegs knit cap.
