Bellbrook beats Polar Bears

BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook High School boys basketball team defeated Northridge, Dec. 14 by a 60-50 score. Ryan Chew led all players with 21 points. Kevin Urbaniak and Evan Lakins added 11 each. Darryl Story led the Polar Bears with 18 points. Bellbrook (4-1 overall, 1-1 in the Southwestern Buckeye League’s Southwestern division) will host Valley View at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 for their next game.

On Friday in SWBL play, Bellbrook defeated Franklin by a 66-63 score. Urbaniak led the team with 19 points, Braeden Gedeon scored 11 points and had 13 rebounds, and Ryan Chew added 14 points.

Ram 7th graders win over West Jeff

JAMESTOWN — Greeneview’s seventh grade boys basketball team defeated West Jefferson, 37-22. Alex Horney led all scorers with 12 points. Chase Walker and Westin Saunders scored seven each. Braeden Gill and Joey Giannobile added four apiece while Tyler Lawson added a bucket and Blake Midlam put in a free throw. Greeneview’s record is now 4-1.

Marauders hand on to beat Benedict

WILBERFORCE — The Central State University Marauders men’s basketball team built an early lead and hung on late for a 70-69 win over Benedict on Saturday. With the win, CSU improves to 5-3 overall with a 2-1 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. BC falls to 4-6 on the season with a 1-2 conference record.

Darweshi Hunter led all players with 18 points along with eight rebounds. Harris Brown scored 17 points off the bench. Quinton Glaspie added 10 points and seven rebounds, Tom Johnson finished with a game-high 11 assists. CSU hosted Paine College on Monday night. They will next head to Atlanta to take on Morehouse College for a 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 game.

CSU women lose seventh straight

WILBERFORCE — Benedict College shooters drained 15 shots from behind the three-point line to claim an 83-63 win over host Central State University in a Saturday, Dec. 14 women’s college basketball contest in the Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium. Benedict (7-2 overall, 2-1 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play) was led by Ay’Anna Bey who scored 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Alexus Shirrells led CSU (2-9, 0-3 SIAC) with 14 points, and Sandra Guilford was next with 13.

Rams offering youth cheerleading camp

JAMESTOWN — Ever thought about performing with the Greeneview High School cheerleaders at a varsity boys basketball game? Now is your chance. There will be a youth camp (for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade) on Jan 8, 9, and 11 and then halftime performance on Jan 11 during halftime of the varsity game at the High School. Camp form is available on the website under Resources. Cost is $25, which includes a T-shirt if signed up by Jan 8.

Dragons hosting Nitro Circus

The “You Got This” Tour will feature a highly decorated roster of top international athletes who together hold over 25 X Games medals combined. Leading the charge is the multi-talented Ryan Williams, who earlier this year completed an unprecedented X Games trifecta after taking three consecutive BMX Big Air golds, the first athlete ever to do so.

Jarryd McNeil, a 15-time X Games medalist, eight-time gold medalist Adam Jones, four-time gold medalist Vicki Golden and X Games veteran Beau Bamburg are scheduled to perform, along with pro skateboarder Beaver Fleming and BMX rider Kurtis Downs, among others.

The appearance on May 15 will mark the first-ever performance in Dayton for Nitro Circus.

Race tickets now on sale at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON — Tickets are now on sale for five major motorsports events to be held at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the 2020 racing season.

GABP Clubhouse tours available

CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum presented by Dinsmore is once again offering off-season clubhouse tours of Great American Ball Park. The two-hour Major League Clubhouse Tours include the Reds and visitor’s clubhouses, visitor’s dugout and more exclusive areas.

Tours are available each Saturday at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. The tours run weekly until March 14, 2020. The Clubhouse Tour also includes admission to the newly-renovated Reds Museum.
