Jackets in G-MAC quarterfinal

CEDARVILLE — Defending champion Cedarville and Walsh will tangle for the second time this season when they meet in a Great Miami Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal at Hillsdale College on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Hillsdale, Mich.

Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m. EST with live coverage on Stretch Internet.

The Yellow Jackets are the No. 3 seed coming out of the West Division at 17-15 overall and 12-5 G-MAC while Walsh (20-10 and 13-5 G-MAC) is No. 2 in the East.

The two sides played in the Callan Athletic Center on Oct. 6 with CU outlasting the Cavaliers 21-25, 25-15, 25-21, 22-25, 15-10.

This will be the 54th meeting between the two schools with Walsh holding a 35-18 advantage in the all-time series.

Overall top seed and host Hillsdale (25-3 and 15-2 G-MAC) welcomes East No. 4 Davis & Elkins (10-20 and 8-10 G-MAC) at 7:30 p.m. The winner plays the CU/Walsh winner at 7:30 p.m. in Friday’s Nov. 17 second semifinal contest.

In Thursday’s opener at noon, West No. 2 Findlay (25-5 and 15-2 G-MAC) battles East No. 3 Malone (18-12 and 12-6 G-MAC).

That will be followed at 2:30 p.m. with East No. 1 Lake Erie (25-8 and 15-3 G-MAC) squaring off with West No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan (14-18 and 9-8 G-MAC).

Those winners play in Friday’s first semifinal at 5 p.m. Saturday’s Nov. 18 championship is slated for a 4 p.m. start with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championship.
