Beavercreek beats Big Blue

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek defeated Hamilton 25-8, 25-10, 25-14 in high school boys volleyball tournament action Wednesday, May 24.

Zach Lohner had 13 kills, Noah Buell dished out 31 assists and served four aces, Parker Mikesch had eight digs and Michael Abbitt was credited with a block in the early round tournament win. Beavercreek is now 19-6 overall this season. Hamilton closes out the year at 3-18.

Xenia Hardball Club hosting baseball camp

XENIA — The Xenia Hardball Club is hosting a baseball camp, from 10 a.m.-noon, June 5-7 at the Xenia High School baseball field. The camp is for youth in grades 3-8. Cost is $5 per day. SW Ohio Track practices

YELLOW SPRINGS — The Southwest Ohio Track Club summer program starts on May 30 at Yellow Springs High School. The practices are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. A host of meets will take place this summer. Practices for 7-12 year olds: 5-6 p.m. Practices for 13 and older: 6-7:30 p.m.

The SWOTC includes elementary, middle school, high school, post collegiate and master athletes. All are welcome. The SWOTC is a tax exempt and sanctioned program. BYSA signups under way

BEAVERCREEK — Registration for the 34th season of the Beavercreek Youth Softball Association is under way. This is a co-ed recreational program for kindergarteners through seniors in high school. Good sportsmanship and team play are emphasized. Residents from surrounding communities are permitted to play. Kindergarten through the eighth grade teams are put together based on play- with requests and also grouped by schools and churches, while the ninth-10th grade league and 11-12th grade leagues are put together mostly by the players themselves.

Colleen golf outing

SPRINGFIELD — The sixth annual Driving with Colleen Golf Outing will take place on June 3 with a shotgun start at 2 p.m. at Locust Hills Golf Club. All proceeds to benefit Circle of Victory. Girls basketball camp

BEAVERCREEK — The 17th Beavercreek Girls Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. June 5-8 at Beavercreek High School. Cost is $90 per camper. Cost is $80 for any camper who registers before May 20. Girls in grades 1-8 are eligible for the camp, which will be hosted by BHS girls basketball coach and three-time Ohio coach of the year Ed Zink and BHS girls basketball’s all-time leading scorer Amanda (Reese) Crockett. Current and past BHS basketball players will also be on hand. The last day of camp, June 8, is Mother-Daughter Camp Day.

XHS Class of ‘73 golf outing

XENIA — The fifth Play it Forward golf outing and scholarship fundraiser, hosted by the Xenia High School Class of 1973, is scheduled for Saturday June 17 at Sebastian Hills Golf Club. Golf registration includes a light breakfast, a full picnic-style lunch and beverages, in addition to prizes and raffles. The event is open to the public with an early registration discount applied until June 1.

The goal of the fundraiser and scholarship award is to give back to current XHS graduates in need. The Class of ’73 will award its fourth $4,000 scholarship to a 2017 XHS graduate at the Awards Assembly in May. Scholarship monies are acquired from hole sponsorship, title sponsors, monetary/gift donations and, of course, golfers.

Pacesetter Open set

BEAVERCREEK— Country Club of the North will once again play host to the 35th Pacesetter Open, Monday, June 26. The Pacesetter is a major fundraiser for the Wright State Athletic Department. All proceeds go to support Wright State’s student-athletes.

The day will include breakfast, a four-player golf scramble, and lunch served in the clubhouse afterward. Registration and warm-up will begin at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The cost for a foursome includes greens fee, cart, a complimentary gift, and food and beverage throughout the day. There are also sponsorship opportunities available.

Beavercreek fall basketball league

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek High School girls basketball program will be hosting its 18th annual girls basketball fall league. The games will be played on Sunday afternoons Sept. 10 through Oct. 22. All teams will play a total of seven games on five Sundays with no games on Sept. 17-24.

The league will be a total of 12 high school teams ninth through twelfth grade. There will be 8-10 girls per team, with only two players from each school on the same team.
