WILBERFORCE — Freshman Juan Scott will represent Central State University at the 2017 NCAA Division II Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week.

Scott is one of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, participating in the championships. Scott qualified for the championships by reaching the automatic and provisional standards established for 110-meter men’s hurdles. He will open competition on the national stage at 6:55 p.m. on Friday May .

Scott, who was named to the Outdoor U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Team earlier this week for his times in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, will be the first Marauder to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships since the 2014 season.

Leading up to the outdoor season, Scott put together an impressive indoor resume by winning the 60-meter hurdles event five times and qualifying for the NCAA D-II Indoor Championships. Once the outdoor season began, Scott continued his dominance in the 110-meter hurdles, highlighted by a 14-second winning performance against Division I competition at the All-Ohio meet. Scott’s time at the All-Ohio Meet ranks as the ninth fastest time in the nation.

The championships will be held May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla. at IMG Academy. The University of Tampa and IMG Academy will serve as co-hosts of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on NCAA.com each day.
