Knights fall to Troy Christian

TROY — Legacy Christian Academy’s girls basketball team got off to a slow start in the third quarter, and it cost them, in Thursday’s 41-33 loss at Troy Christian High School. The host Eagles outscored LCA 10-3 in the third.

LCA boys bowlers edged by Miami Valley

MIAMISBURG — Jacob Black rolled a 320 two-game series to lead Legacy Christian’s boys bowling team, but Miami Valley managed to escape with a 1,433 to 1,402 win on Thursday. Other two-game series scores for LCA were rolled by Tyler Castle (236) and Michael Fisher (198). Max Mader rolled the top two-game series for Miami Valley, a 327.

Beavers lose to Wayne

HUBER HEIGHTS — Host Wayne High led 33-20 at halftime, then extended that lead in the third quarter, to claim a 66-46 boys basketball win over Beavercreek, Thursday, Dec. 15. L’Christian Smith led the Warriors with a game-high 27 points. Peyton Young was the top scorer for the Beavers, finishing with 17, while Jon Alessandro tossed in 12.

Buccaneers fall to Rams

XENIA — Xenia was outscored 27-5 in the first half of Thursday’s 52-33 girls basketball home loss to Trotwood-Madison. Nobody scored in double figures for Xenia, while Alyssa Curry (14), Taj Thompson (12) and Kellah Flucas (10) accounted for 36 of the Rams’ points.

Sidney sinks Xenia boys

BEAVERCREEK — Josh Abbott rolled a match-best 445 two-game series and Sidney claimed a 2,319 to 2,215 win over Xenia, on Thursday. Defending state Division I champion Evan Adkins led Xenia with a 436 series, while Zane Eniex also finished in the 400s with a 404 series.

BEAVERCREEK — Caity Moody rolled a 390 two-game series, while Buccaneers teammate Kailee Palecek tossed a 389, to lead the Xenia girls bowling team to a 1,957 to 1,903 win Thursday. Sidney’s Heather Gold had the top two-game series with a 409.

Beavers win on the road over CJ

DAYTON — After being tied at 34-all at the half, visiting Beavercreek outscored Chaminade Julienne 32-6 in the third quarter to claim an eventual 72-51 road win on Wednesday. Bailey Vaughn led the Beavers with a game-high 21 points, Cori Dilsavor was next with 19 points and Keaira Youngblood finished with 18 in the win.

Beavercreek bests Northmont

BEAVERCREEK — Four Beavers boys bowlers turned in 400 series in Wednesday’s 2,539 to 2,498 win over Clayton Northmont. Cole Dorsten rolled a 493, Seth Koloski rolled a 464, Michael Donahue threw a 453 and Forrest Ewing rolled a 425 in the win.

Beavers win over Thunderbolt bowlers

BEAVERCREEK — Raven Cooper tossed a match-high 440 series and Brittany-Ann O’Connell rolled a 423 two-game series to lead the Beavercreek girls bowling team to Wednesday’s 2,235 to 1,800 win over Clayton Northmont.

Xenia Athletic Hall of Fame ceremonies set

XENIA — The 2016 class of inductees to the Xenia Hall of Fame will be introduced at the Jan. 13, 2017 Xenia High School boys varsity basketball game. This is the sixth class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 2016 Hall of Fame class — consisting of William “Bill” Wilson (track, and cross country coach 1954-‘79), Dr. David Hazel (football, track, class of 1970), Erin Hawley (swimming, 2008), Kristi Cope Elsman (soccer, basketball, 1993), Nick Ungard (golf, basketball, 1952), Richard Bennett (educator, coach, civic leader, 2016); Shawn Thigpen (basketball, track, 1993), Steve Smith (wrestling, 1988) and the 1985-‘86 XHS wrestling team — will attend the induction ceremony, which is set for 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Drive. Fairborn induction set for Jan. 14

FAIRBORN — The Fairborn High School Athletic Department will host its third Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony beginning with a 4:30 p.m. dinner on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 in the FHS Commons.

The 2016 Hall of Fame class consists of Ed McCloud (Class of 1964, Fairborn HS – Football/Baseball), Jackie (Smith) Whitaker (Class of 1981, Park Hills HS – Volleyball/Girls Basketball/Softball), Veasna Tith (Class of 1998, Fairborn HS – Boys Tennis), Fred J. Buschmeyer (Coach, Fairborn HS – Track & Field/Cross Country/Basketball) and the 1970 Boys Basketball District Championship team.

The official induction ceremony will take place at approximately 7 p.m. after the junior varsity boys basketball game and right before the scheduled 7:30 p.m. boys varsity game, at the Baker Memorial Fieldhouse, located at Baker Middle School, in Fairborn.
