FAIRBORN — Senior forwards Peguy Ngatcha and Eric Lynch of the Wright State men’s soccer team were each named All-Great Lakes Region as the teams were announced Tuesday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Ngatcha was selected to the First Team and Lynch to the Second Team.

Ngatcha (Manchester, N.H./Kimball Union Academy) was the Horizon League Player of Year as well as the league’s Offensive Player of the Year. He tied for the league lead with 10 goals and was second with 24 points. The Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on October 10, he scored two goals in wins over Cincinnati, UIC and Northern Kentucky, with his other four goals coming against Portland, Duquesne, Oakland and Detroit Mercy. He also had four assists on the year versus Portland, North Carolina State, Cleveland State and Valparaiso.

Ngatcha is the first WSU player to earn First Team All-Region honors since Travis Sobers was chosen First Team All-Mideast Region in 2001.

Lynch (Bellbrook) was second on the team with six goals, six assists and 18 points. Like Ngatcha, Lynch was a First Team All-League honoree as he was fourth in the league in assists and points and tied for fifth in goals. Lynch scored game-winning goals against Duquesne, Eastern Illinois, Detroit Mercy and Valparaiso and also had goals versus UIC and North Carolina State. He also had two assists at Portland and one against Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Oakland and Valparaiso.

Lynch, who also received Second Team All-Region recognition in 2014, finished his Raider career second on the all-time assist list with 30, was fourth in matches played with 81 and was 10th in points with 72 (21 goals, 30 assists).

“I’m very proud of these two men as they conclude their four years at Wright State,” said WSU head coach Bryan Davis. “Both of them were special talents and performers for us. I think they would be the first to credit their teammates and members of their senior class as well on this award as they all grew together and turned into one of the best classes in program history with 41 wins in four years, a first-ever league championship and three straight finals appearances. Their legacy has changed this place forever and they will be missed.”

Wright State (11-6-3) won its first-ever Horizon League regular-season title in 2016 and advanced to the championship match of the league tournament for the third consecutive season.
