JAMESTOWN — They were a combined 1-3 after two weeks of football but Carlisle and Greeneview rebounded nicely to qualify for the Division V playoffs and play each other 7 p.m. Saturday at Carlisle.

After opening with 30-27 losses at Franklin and at home to Washington Court House Miami Trace, the Indians won eight straight to qualify as the No. 3 seed in Region 20. Wins over Middletown Madison and Milton-Union, which won seven games each, helped boost the Carlisle playoff seed.

Greeneview is in as the No. 6 seed, winning seven straight after a season-opening loss to Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, the top seed in the region.

The Indians are making their second-straight playoff appearance and eighth overall. Carlisle also qualified in 1980, 1984, 2001, 2004, 2009, and 2010 and has won one playoff game. Greeneview is in for the third time in a row and overall. The Rams are 2-2 in the playoffs.

Carlisle is more of a run-based team with senior running back Ridge Reed carrying the load. He ran 129 times for 1,445 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averages 160 yards per game and 11 yards per carry. He had a pair of games with more than 200 yards — 265 against Madison and 252 against Milton-Union — and also had 198 against Waynesville and 197 against Miami Trace.

It was no fluke as he ran for 1,825 yards last year, which included a 394-yard, six-touchdown effort at Northridge.

Zayne Hart is another threat, running 73 times for 768 yards and nine TDs. Most of that came in weeks nine and 10 when he ran for 230 at Eaton and 277 at Dixie. He also had three TDs in each of those games.

QB Jake Moore completed 25 of 45 passes for 434 yards and nine touchdowns.

Defensively, the Indians gave up just 147 points, second fewest in the Southwestern Buckeye League.

The winner plays No. 2 Coldwater — which was no. 2 in final state poll — or No. 7 Brookville in a regional semifinal 7 p.m. Saturday Nov. 12.
