Bellbrook girls top Oakwood

BELLBROOK — The Bellbrook girls soccer team stayed in the race for the Southwestern Division title of the Southwestern Buckeye League with a 3-0 win over Oakwood, on Thursday Oct. 6. Audrey Spirk, Cassi Hennen and Molly Spears had goals, while Lauren Chew, Natalie Stein and Cassidy Hofacker had assists. Bellbrook is 10-2-2 overall and 7-1-2 in the SWBL. Monroe, the Southwestern Division leader, is 7-0-2 in the SWBL.

Beavercreek boys continue roll

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Beavers steamrolled the Cincinnati Elder Panthers, 4-1, in boys soccer action, Thursday Oct. 6. Dominic Calabrese had three goals, while Vince Young added a goal and two assists. Nicholas Togliatti and Joe Jennings each had assists. Beavercreek is 11-1-1 overall.

Beaver boys top area poll

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavers remained the area’s top-ranked Division I boys soccer team, according to the Miami Valley Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association. Beavercreek received 30 points, while no. 2 Centerville had 25.

Beavercreek is 6-0-1 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference National East Division, while Centerville is 5-0-2. The Beavers host the Elks, Tuesday, Oct. 11. A win or tie gives the Beavers their sixth-straight GWOC division title.

Xenia (6 points) was tied for seventh with Vandalia Butler, Clayton Northmont, and Huber Heights Wayne.

Carroll is no. 2 in the Division II boys poll, trailing no. 1 Kettering Alter (90 points) by nine points. Bellbrook (51) is fourth. The Yellow Springs boys are fourth in D III with 47 points. Dayton Christian, whom Yellow Springs will host on Thursday, Oct. 13, is no. 1 with 78 points.

The Beavercreek girls are no. 2 in the D I girls poll with 52 points. Springboro (59) is no. 1. Xenia (17) is ninth.

Carroll’s girls are no. 2 in D II with 35 points, just four behind no. 1 Alter. Bellbrook (21) is tied for fifth with Chaminade-Julienne.

Beavercreek wins

BEAVERCREEK — The Beavers had an easy time with Wayne on the volleyball court, Thursday, Oct. 6, winning, 25-15, 25-9, 25-13. The Beavers are 13-7 overall and visit Fairborn, on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Greeneview tops Northeastern

JAMESTOWN — Olivia Maxwell scored four goals as Greeneview beat Springfield Northeastern, 5-0, on Thursday, Oct. 6. Shelby Rutherford had the other goal for the Rams, who tied for first in the Ohio Heritage Conference with West Liberty-Salem and Springfield Catholic. All had 6-1 records.

Hailee Brown assisted twice, while Grace Nolan and McKyna Woods each assisted once.

Rams seek bowling coach

Hockey holding alumni golf outing

BEAVERCREEK — The 2016-17 season marks the 20th anniversary of the Beavercreek varsity hockey program and in celebration, the program will hold the first Beavercreek Varsity Hockey Alumni Friends & Family Golf Scramble. It will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at Locust Hills Golf Course in Springfield. Included with the $80 entry fee are 18 holes of golf, cart, driving range, box lunch, dinner, and the chance to participate in a silent auction, raffle, and some fun games and competitions on and off the course. Dinner without golf is $20.

Registration and use of the driving range starts 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Dinner and awards will be at approximately 6 p.m. highlighted by the introduction of the new Beavercreek varsity hockey head coach and former U.S. Air Force Academy NCAA Division I player, Brig.
