“The Ceremonies were completely amazing! The “beach party” in the beginning, which is a common site at Copacabana Beach, was very colorful. Then we liked the representations of the different sports in action. Finally the construction of the Paralympic symbol out of white sails that turned to color. It was all breathtaking!
Tears were in our eyes as we saw the USA flag appear at the mouth of the tunnel during the Parade of Paralympic Athletes. No one could be more proud to see Grace march out in her ceremony clothes with the entire 289-person delegation from the United States of America. All of the coaches and athletes filled the entire oval as they walked through.
Thank you NBC as we got word that everyone who watched the Opening Ceremonies got to see Grace walk past the camera. The lighting of the Paralympic flame was memorable and a great way to open the games officially!” — Robin Norman
