Devotional: I am with you

0

“Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: ‘I am with you,’ declares the Lord.” (Haggai 1:13)

Short, but sweet! These words of the Lord are words we all want to hear. This Scripture follows the enlightenment of the Jews in Jerusalem as to their rebuilding the Temple. They had decided to build their own homes and property before starting on the Temple. God was not pleased with their selfishness. When Haggai enlightened them they repented and God reassured them that He was with them again to guide them in completing their work on the Temple. They were now spurred on in earnest.

It is important for the Lord to enlighten us when we go astray. He can do that in many ways: through His Word, prayer or wise counsel from family and friends. Nothing can match our God’s promise that He is with us. There is nothing more comforting as we walk over the peaks and through the valleys of life. With that assurance it is also our desire that we are with Him in fulfilling His purpose for our lives. Life is a mystery in so many ways but when God is with us that mystery is a blessing. Thank You Jesus!

Heavenly Father, thank You for being with us, always. Be with us with wisdom leading us on the proper course for our life. We ask for Your hearing and direction to accomplish what You will. As we proceed show us Your mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
