Remembering: Olive Hammond

YELLOW SPRINGS – Olive Dingle Hammond was born in Connecticut then grew up in Clyde, Ohio. She graduated with a major in Latin from Ohio Wesleyan University. Her husband accepted a position at Antioch University as a science professor, so the family moved to Yellow Springs. She taught Latin and algebra at Bryan High School from 1946 to 1963, often saying that teaching was her true ambition. She was an active volunteer for several organization as well as teaching Sunday school. She died in Yellow Springs at the age of 94.
