XENIA — Carrie Dodds Geyer was born in 1867 in Xenia, attended Xenia High School and Ohio Wesleyan University. When her husband George died in 1900, she and her three children lived with her parents.

She began a Sunday school class with eight high school girls which eventually grew to a class of 250 men and women. She was the first woman to serve on the official board of the First Methodist Church and the first female delegate to the Annual Conference. During World War I, she served as Greene County Chairman of the Women’s Division of the Food Administration.
