XENIA — Jacob Gerlaugh’s grandfather and father, Adam Gerlaugh Sr. and Jr. Came to Greene County in 1807 and then he was born in 1810. He was educated in a subscription school near his home and worked for his father on the family farm until he was married in 1840. His first farm was in Montgomery County and then in 1846, he bought about 1,500 acres of farm in Bath Township. Nearly 100 years later, a portion of his grandfather’s farm was purchased by the US government to be used for hangers for Wright Field.
