BEAVERCREEK — Xenia head coach Bob DeLong said his team would show lots of speed, and he surely wasn’t lying.

According to the Greater Western Ohio Conference website’s statistics, Xenia amassed 430 yards in total offense fo rhte game.

The Buccaneers led 35-7 over Beavercreek on the Beavers’ Frank Zink Field when play was stopped and the fans were ushered out of the Miami Valley Hospital Stadium stands at the 5:31 mark of the third quarter.

The game was initially stopped at 8:52 p.m.

It began to rain at 9:37 p.m.

But despite the long delay, Xenia fans already had plenty to talk about. Ray James had a touchdown run of one yard to start things off. He later caught a 77-yard scoring pass from Danny Naylor.

Bobo Jones scored on a 9-yard run to close out the first-half scoring.

In the second half, Khalil Capers scored on third-quarter runs of 28 and 18 yards.

Xenia placekicker Sabrina Gregory converted three of her four extra-point attempts.

Beavercreek’s lone score came on a 4-yard Hunter Steele run in the second quarter. Michael Chuck kicked the extra point to give the Beavers a brief 7-6 lead.

The Beavers’ Tim Bradshaw had 104 yards rushing on 24 carries, but Beavercreek hadn’t converted a pass play. Bradshaw finished with 127 yards on the ground on 26 carries.

Beavercreek finished with 4-of-11 passes complete for 35 yards, 28 of which came from Logan Turben. Hunter Maloney was credited with 7.

Xenia’s Danny Naylor had thrown for 191 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the end zone, on 9-for-17 passing, when lightning halted things. He finished with 219 yards on 14-of-23 passing.

After the lightning delay, which lasted well past 10 p.m., Jones reportedly galloped 94 yards for a touchdown. Khiyani Harris then caught a Naylor pass to make the score 43-7.
