Fleming nabs Late Model win

XENIA — Fans of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series saw a great night of speed Friday, at Kil-Kare Raceway.

When the powerful Late Models lined up for their feature, leader Ryan Fleming went to the rear of the field after running laps quicker than his qualifying time. Arlis Williams took the lead when racing resumed, but Shawn Stroble grabbed the lead on lap 17. Stroble led thru lap 24 when Fleming marched back to the front and took the lead. Fleming took the win in his Lee Raymond-prepared car. Cody Robinson, who won the dash, was second followed by Stroble, Williams and Virgil Powell.

In Modified action, Mike Carroll survived a first-lap melee to post the feature win. Carroll’s McDonald’s-backed ride was followed by Zach Stacy, Bob Sibila, Derek Barnette and fast qualifier John Donovan. Ryan Fleming was the dash winner.

Tipp City’s Jamie Sites claimed the 40-lap Sport Stock feature in his Commercial Roofing Camaro. It was largely a two-car race with Sites holding off fast qualifier Jim Lewis, Jr. for the win, followed by David Stump, Josh Longstreth and Josh Poore. Poore picked up the dash win, with Longstreth claiming the heat win.

Nick Barrett was the winner of the Compacts feature followed by Tony Cottrill, Bobby Klein, Paul Holley and Nick Bertke. The fast qualifier was Holley, with Klein taking heat honors.
