XENIA — The Greene County Fish and Game Association held an archery match for area youth July 26.
The association provided all equipment and instruction for those that wished to take advantage of it, and use of personal equipment at Fish & Game events is allowed.
Vernon Seiker started the shoot with a safety instruction talk, and also instructed the archers on the parts of the bow and arrow.
Twenty spirited kids shot at field targets first. They then were scored on shots at silhouette targets, set within a 10-target course.
A lot of help came from the many adults who volunteered their time for the event. Trish Lough handled all paper work for the youth registration. Paul Vanover, Richard Keehn, Jim Heggem, Dan Dresher, Brettan Vagedes, and one of our more experienced youth shooters, Angelica Heggem, all helped at some point to complete the shoot.
Trophies or ribbons were awarded to the 20 youth, who ranged from 5-16 years of age.
Lilly Vanover, Ethan Williams, Dani Dresher, Katie Drake, Nick Williams, Leah Seidel, Jayson Faulkner, Dani Price, Dylan Abner, Emma Dresher, Bailey Faulkner, Beth Seidel, C.J. Fulkner, Payton Falkner, Katie Dresher, Taylor Keehn, Angelica Heggem, Cristi Price, Kyle Peterson and Ryan Rifner participated in the archery event.
