Below are some comments from the newspaper’s Facebook page about the Beavercreek Wal-Mart shooting last week:

Kay Darner Barnett: “Ridiculous! Toy or not. He was ordered to drop. He did not. Looks real.”

Denny Dice: “Honestly I do not know the entire narrative. But if the officers order this man to drop the weapon several times at the heat of the moment the only option to me would be to use deadly force. I am sure the officers had no clue this was a pellet gun. The officers job is to “PROTECT THE CITIZENS” As much a problem there is in this country with police dtate and militarized swat and the abundance of Social Media about unlawful use of Force by Police. I think the Beavercreek Police Department took the right action in handling this situation.”

Tom Leightenheimer: “The chief has turned it over and asked for the AG’s help in order for the investigation to be done by an uninvolved party. In our area, all officer involved shootings are handled in this way.”

Peggy Roberts: “It was stupid what the guy did but he won’t do it again. It’s a shame an innocent woman died and now her family has to go on without her.”
