FAIRBORN — Viking spirit is alive and well in Fairborn as the all-class reunion is set for Aug. 2.
In 1982, Fairborn consolidated Park Hills and Baker high schools back to a single Fairborn High School. Even though the sign in front of the building on Dayton-Yellow Springs Road changed and the large Viking mascot that was hanging on the front of the building was removed, the spirit of the Park Hills Vikings lives, and the commitment of these former students to the Fairborn area is strong.
In 2009, a group of PHHS grads formed a committee and planned the first-ever all-class reunion for the following year for those students who attended Fairborn Park Hills. The attendance was over 500 and the event was a huge success. At that time, the committee decided to host an all-class reunion every few years and planning began for 2014.
The 2014 Park Hills All-Class Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2. All classmates are welcome, including graduates from the classes of 1972 through 1985. The event will be at the McLin Gym at the E.J. Nutter Center at Wright State University from 7 p.m. until midnight. A dinner buffet, soft drinks, and cash bars will be available. Music from the PHHS era will be playing.
In addition to the all-class reunion, several of the PHHS classes will be holding smaller gatherings on Friday, Aug. 1. These class-specific events are planned for various locations around the area and do not require RSVPs. The Friday night events are drop-in events to allow classmates to start reminiscing. A list of the various reunions and their locations is on the website.
Anyone with questions about the reunion should contact the reunion committee at email@example.com. Classmates who have not connected with the PHHS alumni planners should log onto www.parkhillsgrads.com and join the email list. A very active Facebook page (Park Hills High School – Fairborn Ohio) also keeps PHHS grads informed about events and classmates.
Information can be found at www.parkhillsgrads.com. All registration fees must be paid by July 27. For out of town guests, discounts for hotel rooms have been negotiated and that information is also on the website.
