Story Times


PJ Family Story Time, ages 3-6 with adult, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 14 and 28.


Preschool Story Time: Fizz! Boom! Fun!, ages 3-6 with adult, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, July 6, 19, 23 and 30, or 12:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31.


Baby and Me Story Time, ages 3-12 months with adult, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, July 9, 16, 23 and 30.


Toddler Story Time, 24-36 months with adult, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays, Jul7 11, 18, and 25.


Wonderful ‘Ones’ Story Time, ages 12-24 months with adult, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fridays, July 11, 18, and 25.


Children’s Programs


Crafty Kids, Jr., for grades K-2, will be held from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. Make and take something surprisingly cool. Registration required.


Paws to Read!, for beginning readers, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursdays, July 17, 24 and 31. Read aloud to real dogs in the library.


Crafty Kids, grades 3-5, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. We bring the materials, you bring the creativity. Registration required.


Loom Bracelets, grades 1-6, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25. Create cool bracelets with a rainbow of rubber bands. Registration required.


Mad Science Book Club, grades 3-5, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 28. Time travel and tech thrillers for kids. Snacks and crafts, too. Registration required.


LEGO Lab, grades K-8, will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22. Experiment with LEGOs with an extended building and play session, for young LEGO engineers and inventors. Registration required.


Snap Circuits Workshop, ages 8-12, will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, July 18. Hands-on electronics for kids. Build fully functional electronic devices that light up, sound off and move around. Registration required.


A Very Fairy Party, ages 4-8, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9. Fantastic fairy fun! Join them for magical crafts, fancy food, and sparkling stories. Registration required.


PT Reptiles, ages 3-17, will be held at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, July 10. Amphibians and reptiles, right in the library! Peter Rushton’s live animal programs are always educational and slithery. Registration required.


Song & Dance with YSKP, ages 8-12, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12. Kids who perform in the Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse will teach a musical number from their current show. Registration required.


Turtles in the Library, ages 3-11, will be held at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15. Nancy Lockard, the Turtle Lady, returns with crawling, creeping, slithering, leaping animals. Learn about frogs, turtles, dragons and snakes in this fun, interactive program for kids. Registration required.


Rocket Building, ages 5-8, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 21. The Armstrong Air & Space Museum presents this rocketry program for kids. Launch rockets to learn about speed and propulsion. Registration required.


Building Lunar Rovers, ages 9-13, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 21. The Armstrong Air & Space Museum helps kids prepare for space travel by learning how to build a lunar rover. Registration required.


Captain Underpants Perilous Party, grades K-5, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Enjoy super snacks, goofy games, and incredible crafts while celebrating your love of Captain Underpants. Registration required.


Fizz! Boom! Read! Magic with Jim Kleefeld, will be held at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29. Ever-popular Jim Kleefeld returns with electricity and chemistry for a program full of fizz and boom. Registration required.


Teen Programs


Cover 2 Cover Book Club, ages 12-18, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 7. Want to join a book club but don’t want the commitment of reading a certain book? Drop in to this club to talk about what books you have recently read, hear what other teens are reading, and find out what books are new at the library.


Japanimania, ages 12-18, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. Are you a fan of all things Japan? Watch Anime, discuss Manga, cosplay, create crafts and more. This club is by teens and for teens who love Japanese Anime.


D.I.Y. Wednesday, ages 12-18, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. Feeling crafty? Get creative with this month’s do-it-yourself project. Registration required.


The Whovians Club, ages 12-18, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 19. A group for creative, humorous and obsessed fans of Doctor Who. Registration required.


The Ancient Science of Henna Body Art, ages 12-18, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 9. Discover the secrets of traditional Indian Mendi body art, and have a henna tattoo applied by a professional henna artist. Registration required.


Build an Amazing “Art Bot,” ages 12-18, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 14. Use some everyday materials to build a “robot” that will actually draw. Registration required.


Incredible Eco-Friendly Bag, ages 12-18, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 16. Create a unique bag from recycled canvas banners and duct tape. Registration required.


An Hour of Code, ages 10-30, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26. A one-hour introduction to computer science, to show that anyone can learn the basics of computer coding. Registration required.

Classics Book Discussion Group, ages 18+, will be held at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 2. Join a lively discussion of literary masterpieces. This friendly group welcomes newcomers. Registration required.


Bookin’ and Cookin’ Book Discussion Group, ages 18+, will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3. Share food while talking about this month’s terrific book. This friendly group welcomes newcomers. Registration required.


Creative Craft Hour, ages 18+, will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12. Learn about art techniques and Art History as you spend an enjoyable hour making a beautiful handmade craft. Experience seasonal themes, gifts, and works based on the styles of famous artists. Registration required.


Life on the Ohio Frontier, ages 18+, will be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19. Mercer-Smith Historical Park presents a different theme each month. Registration required.


Library Knitting Group, ages 18+, will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, July 28. These friendly knitters welcome all skill levels. They knit, talk, and share tips and new techniques. Registration required.


Mystery Book Discussion Group, ages 18+, will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30. Love a Mystery? This friendly group loves to read and talk about mysteries. Registration required.
