XENIA — Free Federal, State and School District tax return preparation is available in Xenia with the assistance of the AARP Tax Aide.
Volunteers from AARP will be in Xenia from 9 a.m. until noon on Mondays through April 7 at the Xenia Friends Meeting, 502 Chestnut Street. Appointments are needed and can be made by calling 937-767-9411.
The Greene County Public Library is once again coordinating with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) personnel to offer free tax help to area residents. VITA volunteers will be at the Xenia Community Library until April 14.
The volunteers will be at the Xenia library from noon to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.
VITA tax assistance takes place in the downstairs meeting room and patrons are seen on a first come, first served basis.
The AARP and VITA personnel can prepare Federal, State and School District returns but not City of Xenia tax returns. Taxpayers are reminded that the City of Xenia is a mandatory filing city for all residents 18-65 whether they have city taxable income or not so in some cases, a taxpayer may be required to file a City of Xenia return but not a Federal, State or School District tax return.
