BEAVERCREEK—The Beavercreek Beavers boy’s basketball team advanced its record Friday night to 4-0 overall after defeating the visiting Northmont Thunderbolts, 62-43.

The Beavers placed themselves atop the Greater Western Ohio Conference’s Central Division, along with the Centerville Elks, with the win. Both teams are 1-0 within the division.

Led by seniors Airius Moore and Jared Waters, the Beavers are looking to have one of the most successful seasons since 2012.

Moore, who has committed to the University of Indiana as an inside linebacker, has also become one of the top seniors on the Beavercreek basketball squad. Moore has averaged 15.7 points per game, and is ranked first in the Central Division for points. He’s also averaging 3.3 rebounds per game.

The 6-foot, 218-pound power forward is also a major threat to opposing teams with his big body and two-way style of play. Moore has speed, great vision, and incredible ball-handling skill that makes him one of the toughest players to defend in the GWOC.

Moore racked up 21 points against the Thunderbolts on Friday and handed them their first loss of the year, dropping them to a 2-1 record.

Jared Waters has so far averaged 13 points per game and is tied for 20th in scoring in the GWOC with Springboro’s Jordan Rigg and Greenville’s Clay Guillozet.

Beavercreek is scheduled to take on neighbors Xenia High School today, Dec. 14 in the GWOC Showcase at Xenia. The girls basketball game is set for 6 p.m., with the boys varsity game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
