XENIA — Come join the Greene County Parks & Trails sentinels and rangers for a week-long bike camp that features cycling rules, safety, bike trail etiquette and even ice cream from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 23 to 27 for those 10 to 14 years old.

The bike camp will be based at Xenia Station, 150 South Miami Ave., Xenia, which serves as the hub for the region’s paved, multi-use bike trails. Bike helmets donated by Children’s Medical Center Family Resource Center will be given to participants based on size availability. The week’s schedule will include teaching the skills and rules of safe cycling conducted on a secured parking lot and on paved trails.

“We could not hold our bike camp without the amazing support from our volunteer trail sentinels,” said Greene County Parks & Trails Sgt. Bill Nickell. “We are so lucky to have our miles of paved trails and we want everyone to enjoy them safely. This bike camp will show our youngest cyclists how to have fun and stay safe at the same time.”

During the week, cyclists will ride a different Greene County trail each day with a stop for a brown bag lunch — and at a local ice cream shop too.

Participants must know how to ride a bicycle and need to bring money for a visit to an ice cream shop; brown bag lunch with non-perishables; filled water bottle; well-maintained bike (suggest mountain bike/multi-speed bike) and a helmet. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Cost for the Bike Camp is $30 for Greene County residents; $40 for non-residents.
