FAIRBORN — The Mayor’s Beautification Committee has announced the Holiday Light Contest winners for 2013.
In its 19th year, the contest had 12 nominations from each district of the city, with the top 10 being recognized. First place goes to the Adams residence at 164 Diana Lane East, second place is the Koogler residence at 603 Grant Street and earning third place is the Warren Residence at 288 Bowman Drive.
“We look for the houses with the most lights and the ones that are the most eye-catching,” said Julie Taylor, city liasian for the committee.”We’ve had a lot of repeat nominations over the years, like the Diana Lane house that won first. You almost know for sure they’re going to decorate every year. And the Bowman house took first in 2011.”
The Howard residence at 1368 Maplegrove Drive, which is an honorable mention this year, is another familiar nominee.
“The one on Maplegrove is kept magnificent all year long,” Taylor said. “They show their pride and show it all year, not just during the holidays.”
The remaining honorable mentions this year are the Rieben residence at 1032 Cottage Court Drive, Beam residence at 136 Blanche Street, Halbisen residence at 426 Lewis Drive, Weinert residence at 331 N. Elm Ave., MacLean residence at 121 Schneider Drive and Spencer residence as 1138 Oakhill Ave.
