“Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more: with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you, turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” (Isaiah 30:20-21)
We know all about the adversity and affliction that the Lord put His people through. With that however, is the constant desire of the Lord to have His people back.
He forces His prophets upon His people whether they want them or not. The word of God will be shouted by the teachers who will come into the open and again witness to the one true God. The people may still not wish to hear these words but they will not be stopped. God will continue to speak and try to lead His people.
It is interesting that the voice is described as being behind the people. God’s people need to step out in faith with the voice of God guiding them. He is the rudder behind them steering them in the Way.
Here is a beautiful picture of the faithfulness of God, who with His grace guides His people. This is the conscience that comes from the very Holy Spirit of God in our lives.
We want always to hear the Lord’s voice guiding us, saying, “This is the way, walk in it.”
We hear that voice chiefly through His very own Word, the Holy Scriptures. We thank the Lord for the treasure of His Word.
Heavenly Father, whether we like it or not we ask You to continue to bring Your Word to us. Help us discern its truth and the way we are to walk in it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
