B-W Greenway Sense of Place Program – A Park is Born
FAIRBORN — B-W Greenway Community Land Trust’s Sense of Place Program will provide a discussion about Fairborn’s newest park , Valle View Reserve. The program will review how Valle View Reserve came to be, B-W Greenway’s partnership with the City of Fairborn and a photographic tour of the park including the one-fourth of a mile walking pathway. This program will be held at the Fairborn Library 6 p.m. Monday, June 6.
Bob Jurick, one of the founding members of B-W Greenway, will lead the discussion regarding the Valle View Reserve. Jurick will discuss how the site was discovered, where funds were obtained to secure the land and the many volunteer hours used on the site to make it a natural habitat.

Safety Around Water program
FAIRBORN — The YMCA SPLASH program is offering free swimming lessons for children in kindergarten through sixth grade who are beginner or non-swimmers. This year’s splash week will run Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 10. The YMCA aims for the program is to introduce children in the Fairborn community to swimming and aquatic dangers, which will lower the risk for hundreds of children in local communities and set parents’ minds at ease.

Living History Day Camp
SPRINGFIELD — The sixth annual Living History Day Camp is rapidly filling up. Five spaces remain for both the June 20 and June 24 session. The June 22 session is full. Call or e-mail soon to get an application for cooking a meal in the fireplace, playing old time baseball, touring a 160 year old house, churning ice cream and more. Take time to “Stop and Smell the Roses” garden tours
FAIRBORN — The Osborn Historic District Garden Club is showcasing gardens in the historic Osborn District and other select areas of Fairborn. Enjoy a variety of gardens including meditation, perennial, vegetable, miniature, an apartment garden and hidden backyard gardens. The tours run from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, June 25. Naturalist volunteer training
BEAVERCREEK — Anyone interested in volunteering with Greene County Parks & Trails is invited to attend as a guest at one of the volunteer training sessions sponsored by the park agency. The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Narrows Reserve Nature Center, 2595 Indian Ripple Rd.

FAIRBORN – The Fairborn Senior Center is accepting applications for part-time homemakers. Hours will vary. Applicants must pass a background check and drug screen, and they must also have a valid driver’s license and car insurance. Apply at 325 N. Third St.
Supervisor meeting
XENIA — The Greene Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors hold their monthly board meetings on the third Thursday of each month at the District’s office, 1363 Burnett Drive. The meetings are open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Any change in meeting location or time will be posted on the district’s web page or in the newspaper.
