YELLOW SPRINGS — This week, WYSO launches season two of “Veterans’ Voices”, an ongoing collaboration between WYSO and Wright State University’s Veteran and Military Center (VMC), headed by Dr. Seth Gordon.

The series features stories of Miami Valley veterans who served in a variety of conflicts and branches of service and will focus on the veterans’ stories of re-entry into civilian life.

The stories will be reported by Wright State University student veterans trained with WYSO’s Community Voices model. This veteran-to-veteran storytelling project is designed to let Miami Valley veterans describe their own experiences in their own voices and has received local and national attention. In September, “Veterans’ Voices” received Wright State University’s Spirit of Innovation Award.

“WYSO is giving voice to Miami Valley veterans,” WYSO General Manager Neenah Ellis said. “Their stories are complicated and powerful. It’s our hope that by airing these personal stories, the community will better understand the lives of these young men and women who are neighbors, coworkers, family members to us all.”

Veterans’ Voices stories air on Wednesdays during Morning Edition and are available on the WYSO website: http://wyso.org/topic/veterans-voices.
