MAD RIVER TOWNSHIP — Incumbent Kathy Estep will keep her seat on the Mad River Township Board of Trustees for a fifth term.

Estep won reelection by a significant margin Tuesday evening, according to unofficial results from the Clark County Board of Elections. With 100 percent of the ballots counted, Estep received 2,378 votes, which was 60.69 percent of the votes cast, while her opponent, Stuart Young, garnered 1,540 votes at 39.31 percent of the votes.

Upon receiving the news that she was reelected, Estep said she was thrilled to get the nod again from township voters.

“I would like to thank the voters for their support. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to continue working for the residents of Mad River Township,” Estep said.

Estep, who has resided in the township with her husband Bill since 1964, said she attributes the way she has handled township business over the years for the reason she has remain in office. The trustee noted that she campaigned throughout the township as well.

“I think people believe I am working hard for them and representing their best interest,” Estep said.

During her campaign, Estep noted that the fundamental role of trustees is to protect township residents’ health, safety, property values and quality of life while operating within the limits of the annual budget.

“I am available to discuss issues with our residents and solve problems,” Estep said. “Over the years, I have worked very hard to establish good working relationships with the Village of Enon, Clark County and our neighboring townships. This has allowed us to work together to save money and solve common problems. I have also worked hard to develop skills in researching and writing grants, and I have been successful in bringing in more than 1.2 million dollars in grant money to our township. I will continue to work hard for the township residents.” Estep will earn an annual salary of $12,345.96.
