XENIA — Greene County Clerk of Courts Terri Mazur is retiring Sunday, Dec. 31 after 21 years of service.

Mazur and her staff achieved many accomplishments during her tenure as clerk. Together, they implemented a robust case management system to the Greene County Common Pleas Court, General and Domestic Relations Divisions, and her office in 1999, followed by providing on-line access to court records in 2000.

Mazur’s office pioneered the Inmate Collection Program in Ohio, collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars since 1997 from Greene County defendants sentenced to prison who owe court costs, fees, fines and/or restitution on their criminal cases.

Mazur and her staff worked closely with the Ohio BMV during two major upgrades of the Automated Title Processing System (ATPS), which have streamlined auto title processes and enabled auto dealers to e-file their title applications and supporting documentation.

Technological advancements made over the past 21 years has also allowed for reduction of staff, from 25 full-time employees to 15 full-time employees.

But Mazur is most proud of the excellent customer service her staff provides to the thousands of customers her offices serve each year.

“Serving the residents of Greene County as their elected Clerk of Courts since January 6, 1997 has been one of the greatest honors of my life, however, the time has come for me to begin a new chapter,” Mazur said.

Mazur also served as President of the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association (OCCA) in 2002 and has chaired numerous OCCA committees during the past 21 years.

On Friday, Nov. 17, she submitted a notice of retirement to the Greene County Board of Elections, the Greene County Board of Commissioners and the Greene County Republican Party.

The advance notice will allow for a temporary replacement to be selected by the commissioners and the Republican Party as well as provide the voters of Greene County the opportunity to elect their nominee in the May 8, 2018 primary election, and ultimately, elect the person who will fulfill the remainder of her term in the Nov. 6, 2018 general election.
