Veterinary Associates brings Thanksgiving to FVPC

XENIA — For the last 20 years, veterinary staff members at Veterinary Associates Animal Hospital have donated food to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal for families and individuals staying in the Family Violence Prevention Center safe house.

This year, around 36 adults and children seeking safety from family violence and sexual assault will sit down together for the Thanksgiving meal.

Veterinary Associates’ veterinary technician Elissa Wilson works with FVPC each year. She coordinates their giving and sometimes makes more than one stop to bring the fixings.

“While the families in the safe house are facing personal disruption within their homes, this family-focused holiday of Thanksgiving can be tough day. The meal nurtures their souls and helps them believe in the goodness of others again,” FVPC officials said in a release.

The donation this Thanksgiving will allow FVPC staff members to prepare the meal without any expense, and without the challenge of fitting the special meal into the non profit’s food budget.

“Their thoughtfulness, however, also allows us to cook the meal and create all the comforting smells and stir up fond memories within the safe walls,” the release continued. “We cannot wait to dig in! FVPC appreciates the Veterinary Associates team.”
