Parks highlight history of Underground Railroad

CEDARVILLE — The woods and ravines of Greene County Parks and Trails’ (GCP&T) Indian Mound Reserve will be filled with riders on the Underground Railroad when GCP&T hosts Greene County and the Underground Railroad 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Indian Mound Reserve/Williamson Mound, 2750 US Route 42 East.

During the program, participants will hike along the trails to learn about a fugitive slave’s journey that they may have travelled in Greene County. Program participants will learn where in Greene County the Underground Railroad existed and what cities played an important role.

Cost is $10 for Greene County residents and $15 for non-residents. Children attending must be in fifth grade or older. Pre-registration ends on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
