Editor’s notes: This is an ongoing series of stories on Xenia’s downtown privately owned businesses. The Gazette will feature another business next week.

XENIA — Xenia Smoke Shop, 37 E. Main St., has sold a diversity of tobacco products and accessories, beer, wine, and lottery items since it opening in 2008, according to its owner, Billy Lampiasi. This business also features a walk-in humidor stocked with a wide variety of cigars.

Lampiasi uses #PipeoftheDay on Instagram to display many of the pipes and pieces created by local glassblower, Waagie.

The Gazette posed some questions to the business owner. Here’s what Lampiasi had to say:

What does the Xenia Smoke Shop do to get business?

“Mostly word-of-mouth… longevity is your friend. We’re on Facebook and Instagram… one of my boys takes care of that.”

Why did you choose Xenia for your location?

“My mother-in-law actually found the location and thought it would be good. It just looked like a good area… we needed something downtown.”

What’s the most unique item you have in your shop?

“I would say our premium cigars… we also sell a lot of electronic cigarettes.”

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about the Xenia Smoke Shop?

“We’re very honest; we treat our customers like family. We’re reliable, you know? You can count on getting whatever you want fresh.”

What can businesses do to make downtown Xenia better?

“I think we need more businesses. Maybe more big businesses… something to bring employment on a wide scale.”

Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. To learn more about the Xenia Smoke Shop, visit the store’s Facebook page or Instagram account (@xeniasmokeshop), or call 937-372-0259.
