Council approves new signage

FAIRBORN — Commuters utilizing Commerce Center Boulevard off East Dayton-Yellow Springs Road may take note in the coming months of new signage going up after council approved the item at the regular June 19 meeting.

The sign will go up in front of Frontier Self Storage, 2160 Commerce Center Blvd. The top half of the sign, measuring out at 20 square feet, will be static with an un-moving display. Meanwhile the bottom half of the sign will be changeable, highlighting varying items and standing at 12 square feet.

Dimension rules put in place in previous years by the city restrict sign sizes in the Commerce Center Boulevard and surrounding areas to 32 square feet. The approved sign will stand tall at six and a half feet, which is within bounds of the dimension rules stating that signs in the Commerce Center Boulevard neighborhood can be no taller than eight feet. The sign plan also states that displays must set back at least 15 feet, which is what is planned for the newly approved signage.

A landscaping plan for the grassy space surrounding the sign must still be submitted to and approved by the Fairborn Community Development Department.
