BEAVERCREEK — The Greene Optimist Club announces the 2017 Avenue of Flags program. This new community service project started in 2016. Subscriptions are going fast throughout the city of Beavercreek.

“We’ve had a great deal of excitement as residents and business owners of Beavercreek saw the big flags popping up throughout our community. This Avenue of Flags project is causing a rise in patriotism and local pride. There are more than 100 flags flying in front yards in our Beavercreek and Greene county community this year,” said club president Erin Henry. “This has started small but is exploding. Many of our subscribers tell us that every flag tells a story. It is an honor to recognize our country and those who have so unselfishly served her so well. We are so pleased to offer this program in Beavercreek.”

The Greene Optimist Club takes pride in promoting this patriotic community service project. This year you can play a role with your own subscription. The annual subscription rate for 2017 will be $50.

When subscribers awaken on all five flag holidays, they will find a large flag on a tall pole displayed in their front yard or place of business. Then following the holiday, we remove the flag and it’s stored until the next holiday. The five flag holidays are Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day and Veterans Day.

To order a flag today for a front yard or business call 816-654-6264 or email [email protected]. The Greene Optimist Club meets 7:30-8:30 a.m. every Thursday of each month at the Community Center at the Greene Town Center in Beavercreek.
