DAYTON — Bike Miami Valley is accepting proposals to host the 2019 biennial Miami Valley Cycling Summit (MVCS), which is an event that connects bike-minded communities and institutions around the Miami Valley.

Applications from communities Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery counties are due Friday, Feb. 10 to Bike Miami Valley Executive Director Laura Estandia by email at [email protected].

The organization’s goal is to educate advocates, public officials and government staff about the power of bicycling to drive economic development and create attractive and healthier communities both large and small throughout the region.

“The Summit is the chance for communities to collaborate and further shape the region’s bike agenda and learn about the past, present, and future of cycling in the Miami Valley,” Estandia said. “The event consists of influential speakers, powerful break-out sessions, and motivating discussions.”

The MVCS is free for attendees and lunch is provided by the host community. Any funds raised above the event expenses are split between Bike Miami Valley’s advocacy efforts and the host community.

The 2017 MVCS will take place Friday, May 5 at Wright State University.

“This summit consists of our first county-wide organizing committee,” Estandia said. Greene County Parks and Trails is spearheading a team made up of representatives from Fairborn, Beavercreek, Yellow Springs, Wright State University and many more.

“The team is organizing an ambitious event for passionate decision-makers — and it should not be missed,” Estandia said.
