FAIRBORN — The Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Christmas Open House, and is aiming to utilize the event as one that will benefit local families in need.

It will take place 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at the I-675 Holiday Inn, 2800 Presidential Drive. Admission is free to Chamber members and their guests. The open house will include a raffle of major prizes donated by Chamber businesses with the proceeds purchasing food for needy families and Christmas toys for their children.

“We will team with the Lion’s Club Christmas project to assist the more than 400 families who are suffering through unfortunate circumstances and struggling to put food on the table,” said Chamber Executive Director Matt Owen. “Last year, we raised over $2,000 through this event.”

A $750 sterling sliver necklace and bracelet set, four tickets to Cirque Du Soleil’s Avatar performance at the Nutter Center, a snowblower, a 32” LED HDTV and a laptop computer are just a few of the top-shelf raffle prizes attendees can win at the Fairborn Chamber’s Annual Christmas Open House.

Shrimp, carved loin of beef, hot hors d’oeuvres and creme brulee will be just a few of the tasty items that attendees will enjoy along with an assortment of beverages. An added attraction will be an appearance by Ohio State’s Buckeye Man and a Jim Tressel “look alike.”

Helping make the event possible are platinum sponsors Teleperformance and Ali Industries. Gold sponsors include Electronix, Soin, Wright-Patt Credit Union and TFC Technologies along with Bronze Sponsors Wright Nursing and Rehabilitation, Synergy, Patriot Ridge, Elmcroft of Fairborn and members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Businesses stepping forward to help with raffle prizes include: Holiday Inn, Shwartz Jewelry, WSU Nutter Center, Homewood Suites, Handyman Ace Hardware and Electronix.
