FAIRBORN — The City of Fairborn’s 38th Annual Community Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast is inviting all of the community to attend.

Tickets for the event, costing $8, are on sale at the Fairborn Senior Center, 325 N. Third Street, as well as the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce, 12 N. Central Avenue. Doors will open, welcoming community members to the event 7 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23. Serving will start 7:15 a.m. The event is slated to conclude by 8:15 a.m. It will take place at the Senior Center. Volunteers from the Senior Center prepare the traditional breakfast, deemed one of the oldest of its kind in the Miami Valley.

The breakfast is co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Fairborn Rotary Club and invites Fairborn United Methodist Church Paster Aaron Chivington to serve as the main speaker.

Chivington has the unique distinction of preaching his first sermon at 7 years old, when he proclaimed that’s when he first had his “affirmation of my calling from God”.

He received his bachelors degree from Taylor University, a masters degree from the United Theological Seminary and is currently working toward a doctoral degree in transformational leadership from Ashland Seminary. Having participated in numerous mission projects, he also enjoys horseback riding, rock climbing and playing the guitar. Chivington resides in Fairborn with his wife, Ali, along with their three children, Wesley, Cara and Joshua.

Serving as co-chairs of the event will be Rotary President Abbie Keeton and Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce President Karen Huelsman. One of Rotary’s most highly esteemed presentations, that of a Paul Harris Fellow named after the founder of Rotary, will be awarded to Rotarian Christi Cox.
