FAIRBORN — A certificate designed to prepare arts lovers for careers with theater companies, orchestras, art galleries, museums and other arts-related professions is now being offered by Wright State University’s College of Liberal Arts.

The new certificate in Arts Management requires 15 credits of coursework and a three-credit internship.

“This program will enable students to blend their passion for the arts with a strong foundation in the business and management principles that are essential in managing and expanding arts organizations,” said Hank Dahlman, university professor and director of the Ohio Center of Excellence in Collaborative Education and Leadership and Innovation in the Arts (CELIA).

The program is designed to prepare students to excel in a host of professions related to the fine and performing arts. Examples of employers who hire arts managers include theaters, museums, orchestras, art galleries, film companies, arts councils, talent agencies, dance and recording companies, government agencies and universities.

To enter the certificate program, students must have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours in fine and performing arts courses. They must maintain a 2.5 GPA overall and a 3.0 GPA with no grade lower than C in certificate-related courses.
