Fundraiser brings out hundreds

BEAVERCREEK — The Maple Tree Cancer Alliance hosted their biggest fundraiser of the year during the Rise and Shine Brunch at the Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek.

This event offered a silent auction, brunch, and expert speakers regarding the importance for cancer patients to have a safe environment to exercise, proper nutrition, and faith and support. The event brought more than 195 attendees supportive of the cause.

Dr. Karen Wonders Ph.D. is a wife and mother of six and one on the way. She is a teaching professor at Wright State University and the executive director of the Maple Tree Cancer Alliance. She has written two books, contributed four chapters to cancer related books and published over 22 articles pertaining to cancer related issues.

Greene Medical Foundation President and Emcee Jeff Brock said during his introduction of Dr. Wonders, “If you think Karen has her hands full, her heart is even bigger.”

Many items were donated for the silent auction to raise money for Maple Tree. This is a basket of veggies from Dorothy Lane Markets.
