XENIA — Citizens across Greene County will be asked to continue their financial support in a number of villages and townships Nov. 8.

Many are location-specific, but two renewals, supporting Greene Memorial Hospital and the Greene County Career Center, will appear on all county ballots.

Greene Memorial Health

Issue 22 is asking voters to continue their support for Greene Memorial Hospital, as they have for the last 65 years. The renewal levy is .5 mill and applies over a period of five years. It generates $1,710,000 per year, and costs the owner of a $100,000 home $13.79 per year.

“This levy is solely for Greene (Memorial Hospital) operations,” Greene Medical Foundation President Jeff Brock said during a previous Meet the Candidates event. “Greene’s services are vital, particularly to eastern Greene County. Last year, over 100,000 patients took advantage of our in-patient, out-patient and emergency departments. This year alone, Greene’s emergency department will serve more than 22,000.”

Greene County Career Center

Issue 18 is asking voters to renew a .75-mill permanent improvement levy which would generate $2.2 million annually. The owner of a $100,000 would pay $16.98 per year, the amount currently being paid.

“Workforce development continues to be a focus, not only across Ohio, but as a critical need in our region,” GCCC Superintendent David Deskins said during a Meet the Candidates event. “This permanent improvement levy allows us to continue facilities, it allows us to support purchases of equipment to keep our kids and our adults on the leading edge with technology and prepare to take on the future they are going to encounter.”
