FAIRBORN — The final steps needed for the 2016 Fairborn Street Program will begin Friday, Sept. 23. The estimated completion date for the entire program is Friday, Oct. 15.

Residents on Ohio Street and Wright Avenue will see the final surface layer of asphalt paved on their streets beginning Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24.

Then, beginning on Monday, Sept. 26, the streets included in the 2016 Street Program will receive final surface asphalt. No road closures are expected, however, paving operations may delay or stop traffic intermittently.

The City of Fairborn Engineering Division will post “No Parking” signs behind the curb when paving is scheduled on specific streets. Dates for no parking will be listed on the signs. The City of Fairborn requests that motorists adhere to the parking restrictions in order to quickly and efficiently finalize the street program.

Failure to move cars off the street during the restricted time could lead to delays in the project and possible towing of cars if the owner cannot be located in a timely manner. Parking will only be restricted on the dates written on the signs.

However, as with all road work, weather, unforeseen circumstances or mechanical breakdowns, may delay scheduling of work. Check signs frequently as dates may be adjusted.

Over the past few weeks, contractors have performed a number of pavement repairs, milling and Cold In-Place Recycling on many streets in preparation for final surface paving. Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR) is a new treatment option that recycles the existing pavement material to form a new base which is then overlaid with new asphalt.

The CIR process, which was completed earlier this week, is now undergoing a seven-to-10 day curing period before the final surface asphalt is placed.
